It’s important to unmask the “Independents”. Too often, people see an Independent candidate, and think they’re for common sense. Here are some facts about these “Independents” and you can decide.

Meet Their Leader – Elizabeth Lindquist

Elizabeth Lindquist is not an Independent. She is the elected Democrat State Central Committeeperson in the 16th Congressional District. She is running two candidates for Hononegah School Board. These candidates are running to secure transgender rights for Hononegah High School. Does this sound Independent to you?

Lindquist has secured over $15,000 from Rockford special interest groups for her “Independent” slate. These are the same special interests that viciously lied to try and defeat John Cabello a few years ago. Now they’re back, spending more money to slander and mislead the voters by attacking Supervisor Bob Nowicki and Roscoe Township Republican Central Committee Chairman John Guevara.

Lindquist has actively campaigned for Democrats across Illinois and even brought 10 Democrats “volunteers” to drop off campaign literature for the “Independents” and other Democrats on the ballot April 1st (just check their voting record). She raised money for Kamala’s Krew in Rockford last fall.

Spending, Spending, Spending

You’ve read Bob’s letter talking about the park shelter. The “Independents” rammed through approval of a single bid, no rebids, no negotiation. We uncovered the breakdown of these massive costs and shared them in an earlier post.

It didn’t stop at the park shelter. The “Independents” spent over $400,000 on legal fees. That’s $50,000 per year!

What did other Townships spend over the same period? Rockton Township spent $15,000 per year. Cherry Valley Township spent $17,000. Rockford Township spent only $8,000 per year!!!

these costs included legal fees for guidance in filing their own candidate paperwork. It included the costs for the objections that were filed because four of the “Independents” failed to submit proper candidate petitions. It was lucky for them that they were the judges of their own petitions. They hired Rockford Democrat lawyer Kylee Miller who advised them in the hearing that they weee not obligated to be “impartial.”

The spending includes $1600 for a bronze plaque, and massive pay raises, including 50% increases for the Trustees!. They also spent $325,000 of the $700,000 property tax reserves for a project yet to be determined (click here to submit a FOIA request email for the budget passed earlier this month on March 12th). Does this sound Independent to you?

What Can We Do to Stop the “Independents?”

It was important to unmask the “Independents”.  You deserve to know who they are, and what they’ve done that doesn’t jive with their public facade. The next step is to vote for our Republican Team on April 1st!
