In a previous post we discussed what Republicans have done for Roscoe Township in the past, but never discussed what Republicans will do for Roscoe Township moving forward. Here’s what we’ll do.
Recreation Maintenance
Many existing recreation properties in our Township are not being maintained like they should be. For example, the Stone Bridge Trail hasn’t been graded for eight years! Too many of our property tax dollars have gone for the “Independents” pet projects, in our opinion, at the expense of our existing parks and recreation paths. We think that should change. We will implement a comprehensive recreation maintenance program to return the maintenance of our neglected sports fields and recreation paths to prior levels of excellence.
Reduce Waste
Township Supervisor Bob Nowicki presented a budget for 2025 that reduced wasteful and non-service spending in the general fund by $150,000. The “Independents” chose to spend an additional $325,000 out of the $700,000 property tax reserves (click here to FOIA the budget vote, request the vote on all 2025 budgets at the March 12 Meeting of the Roscoe Township Board and you will see that all the “Independents” voted YES and Bob Nowicki voted NO!)
Necessary services will never stop. But duplication and waste has to STOP!
NO MORE SLUSH FUND!
As we mentioned above, the “Independents” approved a budget earlier this month that spends $325,000 of the $700,000 in property tax reserves. We will protect property tax reserves and ELIMINATE THE SLUSH FUND! We will also cut the collection of excess property taxes moving forward.
Better, Safer Streets
In the first snowfall this past winter,3 of the 6 trucks that the Township Highway Department put out to plow and salt our roads broke down. One had a transmission failure. Another had hydraulic failure. And the last one had a rear end failure.
One of the most important things the Township does for the safety and convenience of our citizens is to maintain our roads and bridges. We will implement an in-house preventive maintenance program; AND return our Township highway maintenance and snow removal programs to best practices to KEEP YOU SAFE on Township Roads.
